How to Protect My Business

Fraudulent filings and business identity theft continue to rise each year, and the Arizona Corporation Commission is committed to helping business owners protect themselves.

The Arizona Corporation Commission provides the following tools and advice to help protect your business from fraudulent practices

ID Required to File

  • You are now required to show two forms of acceptable IDs when filing in person at our front counter.
  • Coming soon: online ID verification.

Signing Authority Form/Authorized User Program

  • Ensure that your business is signed up for the online authorized user program within Arizona Business Center. This feature restricts unauthorized filings by designating who can file on behalf of a business.
  • Similarly, the Signing Authority Form allows LLC owners to designate who can file and sign on behalf of their business both online and by paper.

Coming Soon: LLC Attestation of Existence

  • In Arizona Business Center, LLCs will be required to inform the ACC via a one question email of whether they continue to conduct business if they have not made any filing within the preceding two years.

Routinely Review Business Information

  • Check your business information at least monthly.
  • In Arizona Business Center, be sure to opt in to receiving alerts when filings are made on your business.

Properly Terminate When No Longer Active

  • Bad actors may exploit dormant businesses without the knowledge of the actual owner.
  • File Articles of Termination or Articles of Dissolution when a company will no longer engage in business activities.

Beware of Non-Governmental Solicitations

  • Scammers may send solicitations to newly formed and published businesses.
  • Scammers are crafty and will usually present as official-looking documents with very fine print.
  • Always beware of emails or mailers that ask for a payment.
  • When in doubt, contact the Arizona Corporation Commission.
