Arizona Corporation Commission Seeks Applicants for the Arizona Power Plant and Line Siting Committee

PHOENIX — The Arizona Corporation Commission seeks applicants for appointment as a member of the Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee (Siting Committee). Members of the committee hold hearings to determine if statutorily defined proposed electric transmission lines and power plants should be granted a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility. The Siting Committee's decision is reviewed by the Corporation Commission, which may approve, deny and/or modify the Siting Committee's decision.

The committee was created by the Legislature in 1971 to provide a forum for resolution of matters concerning the location of electric generating plants and transmission lines. In general, the committee has jurisdiction on proposed plants generating 100 megawatts or more and proposed above-ground transmission lines designed for 115 kilovolts or higher.

The Corporation Commission appoints six of the 11 statutorily designated members. There is a current vacancy for one member representing the general public. Interested parties should submit a letter of interest and a resume to the Executive Director Matthew J. Neubert's office at 1200 W. Washington St, Phoenix, AZ 85007 or by emailing by 5 p.m. September 24, 2021. The Commission will review applications and may schedule consideration of applications at a future Commission Staff Meeting with advance notice to applicants.
